8CR*4MOV is a Changjiang made steel comparable to Japan's AUS8 which is a well liked steel.

8CR*4MOV is a bargan priced steel and this knife with some quirky liner lock design does perform well, This is the steel that is on the Benchmade Vex that is hardened to *6 **8 Rc.
But 8CR*4MOV can be hardened to *0RC WITHOUT cryo. and many others are using this Chinese steel, you may have one and not even know it. Kershaw, Spyderco, CRKT, Benchmade - most all of them use it now and some since ***6.

A Japanese made mediumcarbon, high chromium stainless steel, which offers a good balance of toughness,edge sharpness and corrosion resistance.
